The experience
Eight hours in a mountain village means you leave the tourist areas entirely. The day starts in a lush garden of tropical herbs and flowers where you listen to the Rindik, a bamboo instrument played by hand, then walk to a tranquil river where a hidden jungle temple sits. There, dressed in Balinese temple clothes provided for you, you work with the Mangku, the local priest, to prepare flower and incense offerings by hand. The purification ceremony itself is a ritual of cleansing and blessing, the kind rarely offered to visitors, and it is the core of why people book this experience.
After the ceremony, you eat homemade Balinese lunch at the village Warung, then move to Balikaru farm where a farmer teaches you to plant rice in the paddies. You meet the farm animals and learn about the stingless Trigona bees kept there, tasting their rare honey. The day closes with a walk through the mountain village and a stop at Air Terjun Pengempu, a hidden waterfall tucked into the landscape. Your guide speaks English, Italian, French, German or another language depending on which option you choose at checkout. The guide, vehicle and all ceremony items come with the booking.
Your visit directly supports the families in the village. Every part (the garden you walk through, the lunch you eat, the farm you help with) stays rooted in the community and helps sustain its traditions. You receive a farewell gift and personal photos by email to take home.
