The experience

The core of this tour is choice: you decide which Bali you want to see before you book. The operator lists six complete itineraries to pick from: the Bali Instagram route hits Lempuyang Temple (the Gate of Heaven), Tirta Gangga water palace, Tukad Cepung waterfall and the Tegalalang rice terraces swing. The Ubud highlights run through Tegenungan and Tibumana waterfalls, Tirta Empul temple and the Monkey Forest. The north-west loop covers Bratan Lake temple at 1,200 meters, the Handara gate, Wanagiri Hidden Hill with its Titanic photo platform, Jatiluwih rice terraces (636 hectares of them), and Tanah Lot temple on the coast. The southern route strings together Padang Padang, Water Blow and Dreamland beaches, then Uluwatu temple and a Kecak dance performance. Or skip the sightseeing: choose rafting on the Ayung River (12 km, three hours, beginner-friendly) or the longer Telaga Waja run, Mount Batur sunrise trek to 1,717 meters, watersports at Tanjung Benoa, or a two-hour ATV ride through Ubud's rice fields and riverbeds.

You can also combine routes or build something entirely different. Just tell the operator what you want before you book. Nusa Penida island (Klingking Beach, Angel's Billabong, Broken Beach, Crystal Bay) costs an extra $50 per person and works as an add-on. The tour runs nine hours with a private English-speaking driver in an air-conditioned vehicle. Pickup and drop-off from your hotel are included, along with petrol and bottled water. Admission tickets, lunch and coffee breaks cost extra and are your choice.

The constraint that makes this work is the private format: no group schedule to fit, no fixed stops you don't want. You're not locked into someone else's pace or someone else's list. The Ubud highlights focus on two waterfalls (Tegenungan and Tibumana), then add Tirta Empul temple and Monkey Forest. The Instagram route includes Lempuyang Temple (the Gate of Heaven with Mount Agung behind it), Tirta Gangga water palace, Tukad Cepung waterfall and the rice terraces swing: a different set of sites in different parts of Bali.
