The Experience

The morning air was thick with the scent of wet earth as we climbed onto our ATVs, helmets a bit askew and shoes already dusted from the path. Our guide, Wayan, grinned and waved us forward—he knew every twist in these trails. We rumbled past bright green rice paddies, the kind you see on postcards but never expect to find right under your wheels. At one point, we stopped by an old banyan tree where a local woman sold tiny fried bananas from her cart—couldn’t resist grabbing one for the road.

After two hours of bouncing through muddy tracks and splashing across a narrow river (watch out for the splash if you’re at the back!), we parked up for lunch. The nasi goreng was simple but hit the spot—spicy, warm, and just what you need after all that adrenaline. Then it was off to Bongkasa village for the jungle swing. I’ll admit, my hands were a bit shaky as I stepped onto the first swing platform. But once you’re soaring over the treetops, it’s hard not to laugh out loud. There are all sorts here: single swings, a romantic double for couples, even these quirky bird nests perfect for photos. The staff were great at snapping pics and making sure everyone felt safe (even if your knees knock a little). By late afternoon, with hair wild and shoes muddy, we headed back—tired but grinning.
