The experience
The course unfolds in three phases. First, you develop knowledge of diving fundamentals: how to breathe underwater, manage buoyancy, clear your mask and handle basic emergencies. Then comes confined-water training in shallow conditions (beach or pool), at least five sessions where you practice each skill under close watch before the ocean. Only after you've drilled the essentials do you move to open water, where you complete at least four dives on the actual ocean floor, putting your technique to work and exploring what lies beneath.
Your instructor stays with you throughout, watching every movement and correcting as you go. The dive center provides all SCUBA equipment (tank, regulator, wetsuit, weights), so you arrive with nothing but your swimsuit and willingness. The facility itself has WiFi, showers, lockers and a change room, so you're not stranded between dives. Instructors speak English, Spanish or French, depending on which one you're paired with.
The moment you take your first breath underwater is the one most people remember. It's ordinary mechanics (air flows down a tube, your lungs work as they always do), but the sensation of standing on the seafloor while the ocean moves around you rewires something. After three days and four dives, you'll have the certification card to prove you can do this anywhere in the world.

Is this one for you?Small groups keep the instructor's attention on you: the pace and depth of each dive adjusts to where you are, not to a fixed schedule. Book this if you want to learn at your own speed with someone watching every breath, rather than moving through a checklist with a dozen other students.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and French.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 20 years); Child (10 to 12 years). Children under 10 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly happens during the confined-water training part?
Confined-water sessions take place in shallow conditions (either a beach or a pool), where you practice core skills like equalizing pressure in your ears, recovering a lost mask, and controlling your descent and ascent. You'll do at least five of these before moving to open water, so every technique is solid before the ocean floor is underneath you.
How deep do the open-water dives go?
The course takes you to depths where you can practice your skills safely and explore the ocean floor. The exact depth depends on your progress and the conditions on the day, but the instructor adjusts the dive plan to match your level and comfort.
What's included in the price, and what costs extra?
All SCUBA equipment, the certified instructor, and dive center facilities (WiFi, showers, lockers, change room) are included. Digital photos or videos of your dives are available to purchase separately if you want a record of the experience. Accommodation at the dive center (dormitory or bungalow options) is also available at an additional cost.
Can I do this course if I've never dived before?
Yes, the Open Water course is designed for people taking their first diving lessons. You need to be at least 10 years old and in moderate physical fitness, but no prior experience is required. The instructor teaches you everything from the ground up.
What happens if I don't feel ready after the confined-water sessions?
Your instructor assesses your readiness throughout training and adjusts the pace to your comfort. If you need more practice in shallow water before moving to open water, that's built into the course structure. The goal is for you to feel confident, not rushed.
