The experience

You arrive at the dive center already certified, and the instructor handles the rest. If your last dive was more than a year ago, a refreshment session gets you back in the water safely before the first site. The seven dives spread across three days, so you're not rushing through the underwater work. Each site gets time to explore the corals, spot the macro life and watch for the larger animals the Lembongan reefs are known for.

Manta Bay and Crystal Bay are the headline stops, but the itinerary also takes you to the mangrove reefs and several macro-focused spots where smaller creatures live. The area holds two shipwrecks as well, so depending on your certification level and the conditions on the day, the instructor can steer you toward whatever draws you most. Manta rays and sunfish (mola mola) show up in these waters, though sightings depend on the season and the dive. The instructor knows where to look and when.

Wetsuit and weight belt come with the package. Mask, snorkel, fins, buoyancy control jacket, regulator and other instruments are all provided. The dive center has shower, toilet, locker and change room facilities, plus WiFi if you need to stay in touch between dives. Accommodation in dormitory or bungalow rooms is available to book separately at the dive center.
