The experience
The tour starts where you are: pickup happens from your hotel or airport at whatever hour suits you, whether that's an early morning run to the Golden Temple or a late-night visit. You ride in a private air-conditioned vehicle (a 7-seater SUV or sedan depending on your group size) with a professional driver who speaks English and Hindi and knows the city's stories. The welcome kit arrives at pickup: mineral water, wet wipes, sanitizers, local snacks and a head cover for the Gurudwara, so you're ready before you step out.
The route itself is yours to shape. Most travelers start at the Golden Temple to watch the architecture reflected in the Sarovar at a quieter hour, then move to Jallianwala Bagh to walk through the garden where the 1919 massacre happened: your guide walks you past the Martyr's Well and the preserved bullet marks in the walls, and explains what happened there. The Partition Museum comes next if you want it, with rare photographs and survivor accounts from 1947. The heritage walk takes you through the old city's havelis, gurudwaras and bazaars, where your guide points out the blend of Mughal, Sikh and colonial architecture. If you're there in the evening, the Wagah Border ceremony (the daily flag-lowering between India and Pakistan), is a short drive away, and you'll see the synchronized drills and the patriotic energy of the crowd. Between stops, the driver knows the lesser-known photo spots around the city, and can take you to handpicked local spots for Amritsari food: crispy kulchas, creamy lassis, the things the city is known for.
Breakfast, coffee and tea are included, and the vehicle stays air-conditioned throughout. If you're shopping for Phulkari textiles, Punjabi juttis, Amritsari papads or suits, the driver knows the spots and can help. The tour runs 4 to 8 hours depending on which stops you pick, and you can book it as a single day, two days or three days: the operator adjusts the itinerary to fit. Kids under 10 travel free with a paying adult.

Is this one for you?Book a longer option (two or three days) if you want to move slowly through the heritage walk, visit the Partition Museum and catch the Wagah Border ceremony without rushing between stops. A half-day or single-day tour works if you're focused on the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh and want to leave time for other parts of the city on your own.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Hindi.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (15 to 17 years); Child (3 to 14 years); Infant (1 to 2 years): free.
What is the Golden Temple like when we arrive in the early morning?
The Golden Temple is quieter and less crowded at dawn, and the light hits the gold-plated dome and its reflection in the Sarovar (the sacred pool) in a way that photographs well. Your guide explains the spiritual significance of the site and the architecture as you walk around the temple complex.
Can we stop to eat Amritsari food during the tour?
Yes. The driver takes you to handpicked local spots where you can try crispy kulchas, creamy lassis and other Amritsar specialties. Breakfast is included with the tour. Lunch is not, but the guide can recommend places and help you order.
What happens at Jallianwala Bagh?
Jallianwala Bagh is a walled garden where a massacre took place in 1919. Your guide walks you through the site, shows you the Martyr's Well and the bullet marks still visible in the walls, and explains the historical event. There's a Flame of Liberty monument where visitors pause to reflect.
Is the Wagah Border ceremony included, or do we need to book it separately?
The Wagah Border ceremony is an optional stop on your customizable tour. You decide whether to include it when you book. It's the daily flag-lowering ceremony between India and Pakistan, held in the evening, with synchronized drills and a patriotic atmosphere. Your guide can take you there if you want to go.
Do we need to bring anything for the Golden Temple visit?
A head cover is included in your welcome kit at pickup, so you're covered. Shoes must be removed before entering the temple, and there's a shoe storage area. The welcome kit also has wet wipes and sanitizers.
Can we customize which sites we visit, or is the itinerary fixed?
The tour is fully customizable. You choose which stops matter to you (the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Partition Museum, heritage walk, Wagah Border), and your guide tailors the route and timing to fit. You also pick the length: half-day, full-day, two-day or three-day options are available.
