The Experience
You start with training on flat ground to get comfortable on the Segway before the route begins. Once steady, the guide leads you through the Castle Area, passing Elisabeth Bridge—the suspension bridge that spans the Danube and connects Buda to Pest—and a colonnaded structure on the hill holding a statue of an 11th-century monk. The pace is slow enough to stop and look, and the guide points out the historical landmarks and the stories behind them as you move through the streets.
The heart of the tour is Fisherman's Bastion, the neo-Gothic terrace with seven towers representing the seven Magyar tribes. From there you get the panoramic views of the city, the river and Parliament that make this spot famous. You also pass Matthias Church, the 13th-century landmark where King Matthias married, and Adam Clark Square, named after the British architect who designed the Chain Bridge. The route is designed so you see all of this without dismounting and climbing—the Segway does the work the steep hills would otherwise demand.
You can choose between a group tour, a private tour, or a morning departure, all running about 90 minutes. Photo and video recording are included, so you can capture the views and the moment. The helmets and Segways are provided, and the guide handles the pacing and the stops.

Can I take a Segway tour of Budapest's Castle Area if I've never ridden one before?
Yes. Training time is included before the tour starts, so you learn to balance and steer on flat ground first. The guide walks you through it, and the pace during the actual route is slow and steady.
What is Fisherman's Bastion and why is it on this tour?
Fisherman's Bastion is a neo-Gothic terrace on the Castle hill with seven towers, each representing one of the seven Magyar tribes that founded Hungary. It overlooks the Danube and offers panoramic views of Budapest—the river, Parliament and the city spread out below—and it's the signature stop on this route.
How long does the Budapest Segway tour take, and what's included?
The tour runs roughly 90 minutes and includes the Segway and helmet, a live guide, training before you start, and permission to take photos and videos throughout. The guide speaks English, Arabic, Russian, Ukrainian or one additional language depending on the departure.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Children are welcome from age 8 and up. The slow pace and the fact that you're riding rather than walking makes it accessible for younger riders who can balance on a Segway.
What should I know before booking the Castle Area Segway tour?
The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or pregnant travelers. It suits all other fitness levels. Public transportation is available nearby if you need to reach the starting point, and you can choose a group tour, private tour, or morning departure depending on your schedule.
