The experience
The zipline itself is the centerpiece. You soar through the jungle canopy and get a bird's-eye view before heading to Sanctuary Park. After that, the day branches into smaller stops: the Roatán Chocolate Factory, where you learn how cacao beans become artisanal chocolate and get to sample; West End Village, a laid-back bohemian neighborhood where you explore shops and see how locals live; the famous colorful Roatán sign for photos; and the Roatán Rum Company, where you taste handcrafted rums and rum cakes on a terrace with views. Each stop is brief enough that you move through them without feeling rushed.
Transportation is handled for you: air-conditioned vehicles pick you up from your hotel or cruise port and drop you back when the day ends. The guide speaks English or Spanish and moves with the group through each site. Chocolate and rum tastings are included. You can buy anything you want to take home, but sampling is free. The whole experience runs about three and a half hours, so it fits easily into a cruise day or a morning before other plans.
