The experience

You'll be picked up from your hotel and driven about 30 minutes to an hour to the starting point in a secluded jungle area near Palmetto Bay. The ride itself takes between one and two hours depending on your experience: beginners typically ride one to one-and-a-half hours on the mountain road, while more experienced riders take a longer, steeper route that descends to the beach. Either way, you reach a lookout point with views across French Harbor and French Cay from the mountain top, and you see the undeveloped side of Roatan: dense green forest and ocean stretching out below.

The ATV and helmet are provided, and the guide leads you through the terrain at a pace that matches your skill. If you want to extend the day, you can add a stop at Roatan Island Brewing Company on the way back. They're open Wednesday through Sunday and located right near Palmetto Bay. Transportation back to your hotel is included in the booking.
