The experience
The tour starts in St. George's, Grenada's capital, built around a horseshoe-shaped harbour formed by an ancient volcanic crater. Colorful pastel buildings and red-tiled roofs line the streets as your guide explains the city's colonial history and role as the heart of the island's spice trade. From there you travel inland to the Beaulieu Nutmeg Museum, where you move through the actual stages of how nutmeg, Grenada's signature crop, is dried, graded and processed. You sample products made from the spice, tasting how it flavours everything from local sweets to rum.
The route then climbs into the interior toward Grand Etang Lake, crossing centuries-old plantation land on the way to Grenada's largest national park. At the lake itself, rainforest surrounds the water, and you have a chance to see and interact with the monkeys that live there. Before heading back, the tour stops at Annandale Waterfall, where a cascade drops into a sparkling pool set inside a lush tropical garden. You can swim in the cool mountain water (bring a swimsuit and towel), or simply photograph the spot. Lunch, prepared as authentic Caribbean comfort food in a local community setting, happens before the return to your hotel or port.

Is this one for you? This is a shared tour with a fixed route and schedule, so it suits travellers who want a guide to handle the navigation and history while they move between four distinct stops (the capital, the nutmeg museum, the waterfall and the lake) in a single morning or afternoon. If you prefer to linger at one spot or set your own pace, a private tour or self-guided exploration would work better.
