The experience

On some departures, the day starts with a slow sail past Delos, the sacred island and mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. You pass the UNESCO World Heritage Site from the water, and the guide brings its ancient ruins and history to life as you glide by. Then the boat heads to Rhenia, where the real stop happens: you swim in clear water, rest on the beach, and eat lunch prepared on the boat. Greek food made fresh, with local rosé and white wine, water and soft drinks all included. Snorkelling gear is there if you want it.

The return journey takes you past Little Venice, the iconic waterfront of Mykonos where the old buildings sit right at the water's edge and the light is best for photographs. What sets this tour apart is what happens when conditions change. Winds on Mykonos are famously strong, and plenty of boat tours cancel when the sea gets rough. This one adapts. If northern winds pick up, the captain shifts the route to the protected southern coast and you still sail, still swim, still eat. The lunch is Greek food prepared fresh by the boat's chef using local ingredients. Wine (rosé and white), water and soft drinks come with it. If you have allergies, dietary restrictions or are vegetarian or vegan, let the operator know when you book and they'll prepare accordingly.

Does the tour actually sail to Delos, or just pass by it?

Delos is a pass-by stop only. You sail past the island and the guide tells you its history and mythology from the water. The tour only stops and lands on Rhenia. Note that the boat only passes Delos on some departures.

What happens if the wind is too strong to sail?

If sea conditions aren't suitable for sailing, the tour becomes a curated island tour by vehicle instead of by boat. The day still goes ahead. Only the format changes to keep you safe and comfortable.
