Your first dive: 10 meters down with an instructor, then snorkeling the lagoons

Try Scuba Diving in Halkidiki is a beginner certification course on Diaporos Island where you learn to dive to 10 meters depth with an SSI Professional instructor, earn a Try Scuba recognition card, and snorkel the surrounding lagoons. The course runs 6 hours and includes all scuba and snorkeling equipment, plus fruits, water and snacks. You travel by speedboat from Nikiti, and the entire program credits toward Open Water certification if you want to continue within 6 months.

The experience

Diaporos Island sits in clear water off the Halkidiki coast, reachable only by boat. You board a 600-horsepower speedboat in Nikiti and head out to the dive site, where an SSI instructor walks you through the basics in confined water before you descend. The Try Scuba program is built for people who have never worn a regulator: you stay under the eye of your guide the whole time, learning to breathe underwater and move weightless at depths up to 10 meters. The dive itself runs 45 to 60 minutes, long enough to see the fish and reef structure without rushing.

After you surface and catch your breath, the boat takes you to the lagoons around Diaporos for a snorkeling session in water so clear you can see the bottom without descending. You get a snorkeling mask and fins, and time to float and watch the reef from above. The whole outing is 6 hours from start to finish, with fruit, water and snacks on board. Your SSI Try Scuba card is yours to keep, and if you decide you want to go deeper, the course credits toward Open Water Diver certification. You just have to book within 6 months.
