Deos Canyon canyoning near Metsovo is a full-day activity where you rappel down eight rock faces, the highest 27 meters, with the final two descents taking you inside caves. The operator provides all technical equipment, neoprene suits and dry jackets. You bring closed hiking shoes and a bathing suit. A live guide leads the group in English or Greek through a demanding physical experience that includes 35–40 minutes of uphill hiking to return to the start.

The experience

The day starts with a 20-minute walk down a dirt road and path to the first rappel. From there, the eight descents happen in quick succession (each rope anchor sits near the last one), and the highest drop is 27 meters. Halfway through the eighth rappel, the rock face opens into a cave-like passage. The final rappel takes you into darkness again as you enter a cave to complete the descent. All the technical gear, neoprene suit and dry jacket come with you. The operator supplies everything except your own closed hiking shoes and bathing suit.

Once you've finished the last rappel, the physical demand shifts. You hike back uphill on the dirt road for 35–40 minutes to reach the starting point. The operator provides water and snacks throughout the day and photographs at the end of the trip. The whole experience runs about 7 hours from start to finish.
