The experience

Two hours starts with the plantations themselves. You walk through the subtropical gardens where Taba's tea has grown for nearly a century, and a guide shows you how leaves are hand-picked and shaped using methods that have barely changed. The 120-year-old Guri Oda Tea House sits at the heart of the estate: the actual place where this family business began, and where you'll move next.

From there you step into the production facility to see the machinery and production line that transform raw leaves into the finished tea. It is not a museum display. It is the working line, and you watch how the hand-picked leaves move through shaping, drying and sorting. After that comes the tasting: an expert tea master leads you through three different varieties, each with its own flavor profile, so you taste what the differences in processing and timing actually mean.

Tours run daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Guides speak English, Russian and Georgian. Coffee and tea are included. Book ahead to guarantee your time slot, and note that public transportation options are available near the estate if you're arriving without a car.
