The experience

The day starts with pickup from Tbilisi and a drive to Kakheti, where you walk the medieval streets of Sighnaghi with a guide. The town sits above the Alazani Valley, and the route takes in views across the region. From there you move to Bodbe Monastery, a sacred site where the guide explains its spiritual place in Georgian history.

Lunch happens at Kardanakhi Estate, a working winery where the kitchen builds each dish from local ingredients: mtsvadi, khachapuri, shkmeruli, Georgian salad and pkhali come to the table alongside wines made on the property. After eating, you taste five signature wines and one chacha, a high-alcohol spirit, while learning about the qvevri method, an ancient underground fermentation technique that UNESCO recognizes. The estate offers a 10% discount on bottles you want to take home.

The return to Tbilisi closes the day. The whole outing runs eight hours from pickup to drop-off, with a guide in English or Russian throughout. Children from age one can join. Anyone under 18 does not participate in the tasting.
