The experience

The day starts with takeoff from Papeete aerodrome in a Cessna 172, where a certified pilot flies you over Moorea to see its mountains and lagoon from above. Back on land, a private vehicle takes you through Tahiti's interior and coast. The route connects Faarumai Waterfalls, three separate falls flowing through countryside, with Pointe Vénus, where Tahiti's only lighthouse stands on a black sand beach. You also stop at Arahoho Blowhole, a natural site with a cove and dark sand, and Maraa caves, which run 80 meters deep with water filtered through rock.

Bottles of water come with the tour. Pickup from your hotel or meeting point is included, so you don't arrange separate transport. The full day runs six to seven hours. You'll need your passport for the flight, and the operator requires each passenger's weight in advance to confirm the flight with the aerocluster. If weather or maintenance prevents the flight, a refund of 600 USD applies. Don't dive within 12 to 24 hours before takeoff, and infants must sit on an adult's lap during the flight.
