The experience
You arrive at Versoud Canyon in the heart of Vercors after a short approach walk, then spend the next two and a half hours moving through a landscape of basins, waterfalls and water-sculpted rocks. The guide leads you through different ways to travel the obstacles: jumps are always optional, so you choose whether to leap into pools or take an alternative route. Natural slides carry you down smooth stone, zip-lines cross above the canyon, and rappelling descends the steeper drops. Nothing is mandatory except the willingness to get wet.
An experienced State Graduate Guide supervises the whole activity and works in English, Spanish or French. The route is designed for all physical fitness levels, which means the canyon itself decides the pace. You move at the speed the water and the rocks demand, not a preset schedule. Children from age 7 can join, making this a rare afternoon activity that works for mixed-age groups.
All canyoning-specific equipment (harnesses, helmets, ropes, wetsuits) is included. Bring your own swimsuit and water shoes or sandals that grip wet rock. The operator does not provide these. Photos taken during the day are yours to keep. Public transportation reaches the canyon, so you do not need a rental car to get there from Grenoble.
