The experience
The Furon canyon sits in the heart of the Vercors massif and fills with water year-round, so you'll move through it in a neoprene suit, helmet and harness, all provided. The canyon itself is the teacher: you learn to rappel on real rock faces, navigate underground sections where daylight fades, and slide down smooth stone worn by centuries of water flow. Jumps range from low to higher, and none of them are mandatory. The guide shows you each one and you decide.
A four-hour session starts at either 9am or 1pm, which means you can fit it around the rest of your day in Grenoble or the surrounding region. The pace is built for discovery rather than speed, so you're not racing through. You'll wear neoprene slippers to grip wet rock, and the harness and helmet stay on throughout. They're the reason you can move confidently through sections that would otherwise feel exposed.
Public transportation reaches the canyon, so you don't need a rental car to get there. The activity suits all fitness levels, though it does ask your body to climb, swim and move through tight spaces. The guide adjusts the route if someone needs to take a different line through the canyon. Bring your own swimsuit, towel, water bottle and sports shoes that hold your ankles. Everything else is in the package.
