The Experience

Eight hectares of park surround Château Lanessan, a late 19th-century Tudor-style building that sits quietly in Cussac-Fort-Médoc, about an hour from Bordeaux. The grounds alone justify the visit — they're the kind of space where you can wander for hours without feeling rushed, and the whole place has that particular French calm that makes you slow down. But the real draw is the cellar experience: you'll taste wine directly from the barrel with the property's cellar master, which is not something most wine tours offer.

Then you walk into the vineyard itself, moving through the rows with someone who knows what they're looking at, and then down into the cellars where the barrels are.
