The experience
You're picked up from your Cairo or Giza hotel and driven to the Nile Maxim, a dinner cruise boat that departs for a two-hour sail down the river. Once aboard, you sit at a table with views of downtown Cairo's lights reflecting off the water. The chef's menu combines Egyptian favorites with international options, all made from fresh ingredients and served throughout the cruise. Bottled water is provided. Other beverages are available for purchase.
The evening centers on three live performances. A belly dancer takes the stage, followed by an Egyptian folklore show, then the Tanura: a spinning dervish performance in traditional costume that builds to a dramatic finale. Between acts, the boat glides past illuminated buildings and bridges. A tour leader in your chosen language is present throughout, though the performances need no translation. The whole experience, from pickup to your return, spans three hours.
Pickup is included from most Cairo and Giza hotels. If your hotel is in Cairo airport, the New Administrative Capital, New Cairo, Heliopolis, or several other outlying areas, pickup costs extra and can be arranged at checkout. The boat is wheelchair accessible, as are the vehicle and all boarding areas, making the cruise available to travelers with mobility needs.
