The experience
The cruise starts with pickup from your hotel at 6:30 PM in a private air-conditioned vehicle. A representative collects you and drives to downtown Cairo, where you board the Nile boat. The vessel operates as a floating restaurant: you move through an open buffet line with Egyptian specialties and international options, then settle at a table for the three-hour sail. The boat stays on the water while you eat, and the performances: belly dancing and Tanoura (a spinning dervish show), run throughout the evening. All taxes, fees and handling charges are built into the price, so there are no surprises at the end.
The boat returns to the dock around 10 PM, and the same vehicle takes you back to your hotel. Meeting points for group pickups are the Ramses Hilton in Cairo or the Emo Tours Egypt Office in Giza. You'll be told which one applies when you book. Traffic can add 30–45 minutes to the journey, though if the group fills up early, the vehicle leaves sooner. A live guide travels with the group and speaks English, Spanish, Italian, German or Portuguese depending on the booking.
Three vessel classes are available at checkout: the 5-star Pharaoh, the 5-star Maxim, and a 4-star option. Each is the same experience (the same route, the same buffet, the same shows), but the boat itself differs. Water and drinks are not included, nor is tipping. Bring cash if you want to add either.
