An introductory scuba dive in Hurghada's Red Sea with a personal instructor in a 1:1 setup, aboard a 27-meter boat visiting two reef sites. You learn basic safety and skills on the boat, then dive to a maximum depth of 5 meters alongside your guide, with the option to snorkel or relax on the shaded deck in the afternoon. Hotel pickup and all equipment are included; the dive runs about 7 hours from pickup to return.

The Experience

A private bus collects you from your Hurghada, Makadi, Shahl Hasheesh or El Gouna hotel between 7:30 and 8:15 am. On board the spacious 27-meter boat, you'll fit the diving equipment with your instructor and run through a full safety briefing before departure. The boat sails 45 minutes to an hour to the first reef, and during that time your instructor walks you through the basic skills and guidelines you'll need underwater—all one-on-one, at your own pace.

Once at the reef, you and your instructor enter the water together from the boat and dive to a maximum depth of 5 meters. You'll move through the colorful fish and living coral of the Red Sea with your guide right beside you, watching your every move. After the morning dive, the boat returns to the marine. Lunch and cold drinks are available for a small fee. In the afternoon, you choose: make a second dive at a different site (with an additional fee) or spend the time snorkeling with equipment provided, or simply rest on the shaded sun deck. The boat docks around 4 pm and your driver brings you back to your hotel.

The 1:1 format means no group pace to keep up with and no waiting for others to master a skill before moving on. Your instructor adjusts to your comfort level and speed, which is why this works for first-time divers as young as 10. The full day on the water—from pickup through return—gives you time to settle into the experience without rushing.
