The experience

The tour starts at Cairo Airport, where your guide meets you outside the arrival lounge at your requested time. From there, an air-conditioned vehicle takes you directly to Giza. You'll stand in front of the Great Pyramid of Khufu (the only surviving wonder of the ancient seven wonders, the tallest building on earth for over 3,800 years), and explore the surrounding complex with your Egyptologist guide. The second stop is the Pyramid of Khafre, where you'll see the valley temple built for King Khafre's mummification process and walk the causeway that once connected the temple to the pyramid above.

The Pyramid of Menkaure, the smallest of the three main pyramids at about 61 meters high, still has its original granite outer layer on the lower section: stone quarried from Aswan, over 1,000 kilometers away. After visiting all three pyramids, you stop at a panoramic viewpoint where you can see six pyramids and the city of Giza spread out below. You'll have 30 minutes here to photograph the landscape and, if you choose, take a short camel ride. The tour ends with a close-up view of the Great Sphinx, the limestone guardian with a lion's body and the head of King Khafre, where you'll have time to take photos before your guide returns you to Cairo Airport or your hotel.

Your guide speaks English or Spanish and has long experience with Egyptology and photography. The tour includes bottled water, and entry to the Giza complex is covered. If you want to enter a pyramid from the inside, that requires a separate ticket, which your guide can help you arrange. Lunch and a camel ride are available depending on which option you choose at checkout.
