The experience
Baños sits in a valley where the Andes meet the Amazon, and the Waterfall Route traces the ancient road that once connected them. The tour starts with two hidden waterfalls (Silence and Ulba), then moves through Agoyan and Guamag, each with its own history. You'll cross a section of that old Andes-to-Amazon path where a waterfall runs down the middle of the road and a rock formation shows the face of Jesus. The guide stops at each point for photographs and to explain what you're seeing.
Bride's Veil is the centerpiece: a waterfall that drops in a thin, veil-like sheet. To reach it, you cross the Pastaza River on a tarabita (a cable car that hangs above the water), and hike to a unique landscape on the far side. After that comes the tree house, built as an observatory during the activity of Tungurahua volcano. Here you climb the End of the World Swing, which hangs out over a steep drop and is one of the most photographed spots in Baños. A stop at a small factory of traditional sweets lets you see how they're made and buy some if you want. The tour ends at Café del Cielo, a viewpoint café overlooking the city where you can order a drink and rest.
The van or SUV holds up to 16 passengers and has air conditioning. Entrance fees to Ulba, Devil's Pavilion, the tarabita, and the tree house are included. A water bottle is provided. If you want to try any of the adventure sports at the activity zone (canopy, glass bridge, Tarzan jump, Tibetan bridge), those are paid separately. The guide speaks English or Spanish and drives, so you don't navigate or worry about the route.
