The Experience

You have a free afternoon in Punta Cana and want to do something that gets your adrenaline going without eating up the whole day. A hotel pickup arrives to collect you, and you're driven to the zip line site in the rainforest. Once there, expert guides in adventure sports walk you through the safety guidelines and check your harness and helmet before you step onto the first platform. The setup is straightforward: seven cables run in parallel through the forest canopy, which means you can race a friend across the same stretch if you want, or fly solo if you'd rather go at your own pace.

The zip lines themselves are among the longest in the Caribbean, so the aerial views stretch across the forest floor below. As you move from platform to platform, you're watching the flora and fauna of the rainforest pass underneath—the canopy, the understory, the movement of birds and other wildlife. The actual zip line portion takes about an hour, though the whole excursion runs three hours with transportation from your hotel included. Bottled water and soft drinks are provided along the way, and the guides stay with you throughout to handle safety checks and answer questions about what you're seeing.
