The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your Punta Cana or Uvero Alto hotel and a short transfer to Rancho Un Regalo de Dios. Once there, you'll meet your guide, get fitted with riding equipment, and spend time getting comfortable with your horse before you set out. The staff is trained to work with riders of all fitness levels, so there's no need to have ridden before.

The ride itself follows the beach and countryside toward Boca de Maimón, where the Maimón river flows into the ocean: the first real landmark of the afternoon. From there you continue to Macao Beach, the second stop, where you can wade in if you want to or simply stand and watch the waves and the sunset. Throughout the route your guide points out the landscape and keeps the pace steady. Bottled water is provided, and the whole outing takes about two hours from start to finish.

Before or after the ride, you can sample Mamajuana (a local herbal drink, available to travelers 18 and up) and browse artisan products like coffee and cocoa at the ranch. WiFi is available if you need it. The experience is canceled only if weather turns bad, and if that happens you can choose another date or get your money back.
