The Experience

The first thing I noticed was the mix of dust and sweet coffee in the air at the ranch — not what I expected, honestly. Our guide, Carlos, had this easy laugh that made everyone relax while he ran through safety stuff (I zoned out for a second watching a lizard dart across his boot). The buggies looked like they’d been through plenty already, but that just made me more excited. We buckled in and suddenly it was all rattling engines and shouts over the noise as we tore out onto these rough Punta Cana roads.

I kept thinking I’d get used to the bumps but nope — every pothole had me gripping tighter. We passed these bright blue houses with chickens pecking around outside, kids waving like they knew us.
