Kayak, farm visit, and hot springs
- Start at Dominica Museum
- Hike to old fort
- Kayak and swim in Soufriere Bay
- Visit 17th century French farm
- Relax in Bambooze Sulphur Baths
The experience
Five hours covers a lot of ground. You start at the Dominica Museum for a brief history of the area, then move to a short hike to an old English fort from the 1800s. From there the day shifts to water: Soufriere Bay is one of the island's best kayaking and snorkeling spots, and you'll paddle and swim in its calm bay with snorkeling equipment and a life jacket provided. The water work is the core, but it's not the whole story.
After the bay, you head inland to Coulibri Estate in the heights above Soufriere, where a working 18th-century French farm sits. The visit shows how farmers live and work on the island (organic methods, seasonal crops, the rhythm of simple living), and you'll taste local food and seasonal fruit while you're there. Then comes the payoff: Bambooze Sulphur Baths, where you soak in the mineral-rich hot springs fed by the Soufriere volcano. The water is warm and the minerals are real. This is not a pool.
An air-conditioned vehicle moves you between stops. Pickup is included, and so are bottled water, local snacks during the farm visit, sodas, and Tiffany's Rum Punch. You'll need moderate fitness for the hiking and water entry, and the day starts early enough that you're done by early afternoon.
