The Experience

We started winding up the road out of Roseau, windows down because the air felt thick and green — you know that smell after rain when everything’s alive? There were families picnicking nearby, steam rising from little mud pools that locals say are good for sore muscles.

I didn’t expect to feel so relaxed by the end of it all — maybe it was soaking in those muddy hot springs or just being somewhere that smells like earth and rain instead of car exhaust for once. On the drive back I kept thinking about that first swim through Titou Gorge; still gives me goosebumps.
