The experience

The day starts at Morne Bruce Viewpoint, 700 feet above Roseau, where you get the postcard view of the island that appears on every travel guide. From there the route moves through the Dominica Botanic Gardens, a 40-acre park in the heart of the capital that holds the island's botanical heritage and local wildlife. These two stops set the scale of what you're about to see: the island's geography and its cultivated green spaces before you head into the wild.

The centerpiece is Ti Tou Gorge, a water-filled ravine inside Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Life jackets are provided, and the swim upriver to the waterfall takes only about five minutes, but the canopied light filtering down the mountainside inside the gorge is what makes it worth the effort. The water can be cold, though hot water pools sit nearby if you need them. After that you walk a short, well-maintained path to Trafalgar Falls, the twin waterfalls 20 minutes from Roseau, where you can photograph both or swim in the smaller fall's refreshing waters. The taller fall has its own hot springs if you prefer warmth.

The tour ends at two coastal and thermal stops. Wotten Waven is a tranquil hot-spring village where you soak in naturally heated mineral waters fed by the island's volcanic geothermal activity. Champagne Beach, on the southwest coast near Pointe Michel, is one of Dominica's most famous coastal spots and closes out the day. The vehicle is air-conditioned throughout, and you'll have bottled water and local rum punch included. A live guide in English or French narrates the route and explains what you're seeing at each stop.

What is Ti Tou Gorge and why do I need to swim to see it?

Ti Tou Gorge is a small waterfall deep inside a water-filled gorge within Morne Trois Pitons National Park. The only way to reach the waterfall at the end is to swim upriver through the gorge itself, a journey of about five minutes with a life jacket provided. The canopied light filtering down the mountainside inside the gorge is the main draw.

Can I swim at Trafalgar Falls, or is it just for viewing?

Trafalgar Falls is both. You can walk a short 10-minute path to a viewing platform to photograph the twin waterfalls, or you can continue on to swim in the refreshing waters of the smaller waterfall or find the hot springs near the taller fall if you prefer warm water.

How long is the full-day tour, and what time does it start?

The tour runs for four hours total. Pickup is included, though a specific start time is not listed in the tour details. Contact the operator to confirm the departure time that fits your schedule.

Lunch is not included on this tour. However, lunch stops can be arranged if you request them when you book. Ask the operator about options at the time of reservation.

What is Champagne Beach, and why is it called that?

Champagne Beach is one of Dominica's most famous coastal spots, located on the southwest coast near the village of Pointe Michel. It closes out the tour as the final stop after the inland waterfalls and hot springs.

Are there any fees I need to pay on the day of the tour beyond the ticket price?

Yes. Trafalgar Falls has a site fee of $8 USD paid on site. If you choose to visit the hot water spa at Wotten Waven, there is an additional $10 USD fee paid on site. This is optional and you can decide at checkout whether to include it.
