The experience

The day splits into two hours of paddling and three hours in the water. You'll kayak out from Cape Kamenjak (a water paradise 10 km south of Pula) toward the caves of Big and Small Kolombarica. The blue cave sits under 15-meter cliffs. You'll snorkel inside it with a mask and snorkel provided, and a licensed guide in English or Croatian leading the way. If cliff jumping appeals to you, the cliffs at Kolombarice are there for it. The pace is built around swimming and exploring, not racing through stops.

After the caves, you'll head to Safari Bar for lunch and a drink: your choice of sardines, gyros or čevapčići, and lemonade, iced tea, sangria, beer or soft drinks. The bar sits on the water, so you're still in the landscape. You'll also get a waterproof bag to keep things dry, a comfortable kayak seat, and underwater GoPro photos and videos of the snorkeling. A packed lunch (water, power bar, apple) comes along for the paddling part of the day.

The route covers 8.5 km of coastline and reaches the southernmost point of Istria. Weather can shift the start time if the morning is windy. The guide will move it later once the wind drops. High season (mid-July to mid-August) brings crowds to Cape Kamenjak because of its popularity, so expect company on the water then. Extreme weather or rough seas can cancel or reschedule the day.

Is this one for you?Book this if you're comfortable in the water and want a mix of paddling, snorkeling and time to float and explore at your own pace. The shared group means you'll have company and a guide, but the rhythm is relaxed. You're not rushing between stops. Cliff jumping is there if you want it, but the day works just as well if you skip it and focus on the caves and swimming.
