The experience

The route starts with a drive through Hvar's interior, passing the villages of Brusje and Velo Grablje and expanses of lavender fields before reaching di Ager, a protected field that has remained nearly unchanged for 2,400 years. In Jelsa, you'll taste wines at Duboković winery, known for its award-winning reds and the cult Croatian wine Medvid. The tasting happens in the winemaker's family house, in a candlelit cellar, intimate and unhurried. Cheese and bread accompany the wines. After tasting, you head to Malo Grablje, an abandoned village where dinner waits. The three-course meal pairs with Mr. Berti's wine and typically features Peka, the traditional Dalmatian method of cooking meat or octopus under an iron bell. You can choose veal, lamb, octopus, or a vegetarian option. The setting overlooks surrounding cliffs and quiet countryside.
