Step-by-step itinerary
Discover Istrian wine, truffles, and olive oil
- Start with malvazija wine tasting
- Try 5 to 8 wines with local snacks
- Visit wine cellar and learn production
- Go truffle hunting with host and dogs
- Enjoy truffle tasting
- Visit Motovun for a walk and views
- Taste different olive oils with snacks
The experience
The day opens with a glass of malvazija and moves into wine tasting: five to eight wines paired with local snacks while you walk through the wine cellar and learn how the producer makes each one. That foundation sets up the second act: you go into the forest with the host and his dogs to watch how truffles are actually found, then taste them prepared three ways, with cheese and sausage, as a spread, and scrambled into eggs. The final stop is olive oil tasting, where you try several organic oils and learn what grows and what it takes to press them, again with snacks to carry the flavors.
Motovun itself is the anchor point: a famous hilltop town where you stop to walk and take in the views. The whole arc fits into one day because the guide handles the route and the vehicle is air-conditioned. Groups max out at five people, so the pace stays unhurried and the tasting portions stay generous. A minimum of two people per booking keeps the cost reasonable, and the operator can arrange a second vehicle if your group reaches six.

Is this one for you?At ten hours, this tour takes most of a day, so it works best if you have a full morning and afternoon free and don't need to fit other activities into the same day. Groups stay under six people, which means the tastings move at a relaxed pace and the forest walk with the dogs stays intimate rather than crowded.
