The experience

You start with hotel pickup and drive inland from the coast into green Istria, arriving at Motovun around 10am. The town sits on a hilltop surrounded by medieval walls that have stood since the 11th century. You walk the town itself: narrow streets, stone buildings, the layered history of a place that has held its shape for centuries. There's free time to move at your own pace before the group departs around 11:30.

From Motovun, the route follows the Mirna river valley south to Buzet, where a family-run distillery sits on the slopes of Učka mountain. The distillery produces grappas, jams, cookies and chocolate using wild herbs and fruits foraged in an ecologically clean environment: the same plants and berries that grow around the property. During the visit you learn how they're processed, then taste through a selection: brandies, jams, and cookies, all made in-house. The distillery uses what grows locally, so the flavors shift with the seasons and what the mountain yields.

The tour wraps by early afternoon, with departure back to your hotel around 1:30pm. Pickup is included from Rovinj, Pula or Poreč depending on which option you choose at checkout.
