Kayaking Lumbarda at sunset: Wine and pastries
Paddle three islands and end the evening floating at sunset with wine
Kayak from Lumbarda to Vrnik, Badija and Gubavac islands on Korčula, timed to catch the light as it turns gold. You paddle roughly two hours, exploring old limestone quarries and a 15th-century monastery where deer roam free, then anchor at quiet Gubavac to swim and watch the sun drop into the sea while tasting homemade Grk wine and Klašun pastries. Groups stay under 10, so the pace adjusts to who's paddling that evening. Pickup from your hotel is included. Children from age 6 are welcome, and kids get homemade juice instead of wine.

The experience
The route starts at Tatinja Bay, where you get fitted with a life jacket, paddle, dry bag and either a single or double kayak. If you've never paddled before, there's a short lesson on the water before you head out. From there you paddle toward three small islands, each one a stop with its own reason to land.
Vrnik holds old limestone quarries worked for centuries. You walk through the village and see how the stone still shapes the place. Badija carries a 15th-century Franciscan monastery that survived its own turbulent history, and the island's free-roaming deer are the only other visitors most days. The paddling takes roughly two hours total. The rest of the evening unfolds on land and in the water. Gubavac, the last island, doesn't get reached by taxi boats or big tour groups, so it stays quiet. You swim there, float, and watch the light change while you taste homemade Klašun pastries and Grk wine. A white wine made by the family who runs the kayaking business, only found on Korčula. The whole outing runs about three and a half hours.
Boris and Ivka built Spirit of Korkyra themselves. Ivka grew up in Lumbarda. They time the route to end at golden hour on the water, and with a max of 10 guests, the pace isn't fixed. It shapes itself around who's paddling that evening. The guide speaks English, Croatian or Serbian. Bring a t-shirt or Lycra shirt, light shorts, a hat, sunglasses, water shoes or flip-flops, a towel, swimsuit and at least 1.5 liters of water per person.

Is this one for you?You paddle the kayak yourself, so this suits anyone with at least moderate fitness who wants to move through the water rather than watch it pass. The small group size, under 10, means the guide can adjust the pace to your ability and the light, making it work whether you're a beginner or you've paddled before.
