Korcula Island bike and wine tour

The experience
You meet your guide in Korcula and set out on mountain bikes toward Lumbarda, riding through the island's countryside and scenic landscapes. The first real stop is a stone staircase lined with tall cypress trees that climbs to the Church of St. Anthony: a small, hilltop chapel with a story tied to the land itself. After that comes a field with an old water point, then the vineyards start to appear.
Lumbarda is built around Grk vines, an indigenous white grape that has grown here since before the Greeks colonized the island. You ride through the vineyard rows and stop at a winery for roughly an hour of wine tasting and a traditional Dalmatian snack: the operator sources from producers making the best quality wines on this side of Korcula. If the water looks good and you want to swim, the route passes one of Lumbarda's famous sandy beaches on the way back to town.
The ride back takes you through more of the village so you see it fully before returning to Korcula. Bring water, comfortable sport shoes, breathable clothes, a hat and sunscreen. A lightweight rain jacket is smart in case of wind. The tour is designed for riders with at least moderate fitness, and children can join from age 8.
