The tour starts with a short drive inland from Hvar Town, about 25 minutes, to reach the vineyards. Your guide is a local who knows the island's wine history and brings it into focus as you move through the cellars and production facilities. The first stop is Ivo Dubokovic's boutique winery in Jelsa, known across Croatia for its small-batch approach and the authentic tasting experience his cosy cellar offers.

After the tour of the vineyard and production, you sit on the veranda of a traditional hilltop village property. Five different wine courses arrive paired with homemade delicacies: cold cuts, finger food and local snacks prepared in the Croatian style. The veranda itself is part of the experience: it faces out toward the sea, and the quiet of the hilltop village sits around you while you taste. The whole tasting session unfolds at a pace that lets you linger over each course.

The tour includes private transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle, bottled water throughout, and all the wine and food. You're picked up from your accommodation and returned the same way, so there's no navigating to the wineries on your own or arranging separate transport.
