The drive from San Jose takes about an hour and a half, and the route itself is part of the day: you'll pass through mountain views on the way to Jaco Beach, one of Costa Rica's most accessible coastal towns. Once at the Tarcoles River, you stop to watch and photograph crocodiles—some reaching up to 19 feet—in their natural environment before moving on to Vista Los Suenos Adventure Park, where the two activities you've chosen happen.
