Step-by-step itinerary
Canopy tour with rappel and swing
- Experience canopy tour
- Rappel over 35 meters
- Enjoy Tarzan swing
- Climb tree
The Experience
You start with a vehicle pickup from your hotel and ride to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve. The guide meets you at the site and walks through the gear—harness, helmet, carabiners—so you know what each piece does before you clip in. Then you move into the canopy: zipline between platforms strung through the forest, feel the Tarzan swing launch you out over the canopy, rappel down more than 35 meters of rope back to the ground, and finish by climbing a tree on your own terms. The guide stays with the group the whole time, managing the rope work and the transitions between stations.
The 2.5-hour window means you can fit this into a morning before lunch or an afternoon after a site visit elsewhere. All the equipment—harness, helmet, gloves, carabiners—is provided and fitted to your size. The air-conditioned vehicle handles the drive both ways, so you arrive ready to move instead of tired from hiking in. The guide speaks English or Spanish and sets the pace so you are not rushed between activities; if you want to take a moment at a platform or ask about the forest below, there is time for it.

How high is the rappel in Monteverde?
The rappel drops more than 35 meters from the canopy to the ground. The guide manages the rope and your descent, and you control the speed by how much pressure you put on the line.
What is the Tarzan swing like?
The Tarzan swing launches you out over the canopy on a rope, then you swing back and drop onto a platform. It is one of four activities in the combo, and the guide shows you how to grip and when to let go before you go.
Can children do this activity?
Children from age 4 are welcome on the combo. All gear is fitted to size, and the guide adjusts the pace and the support so younger climbers can move safely through each station.
Is the pickup from my hotel included?
Yes, the air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your hotel and returns you after the activity. The guide meets you at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve entrance.
How much physical fitness do I need?
The activity requires at least a moderate level of physical fitness. You are climbing, rappelling and swinging, so stamina and arm strength matter. The guide can adjust the intensity within each station, but the overall pace is steady.
What should I wear?
Wear closed-toe shoes with good grip, long pants or athletic leggings, and a shirt you can move in. The cloud forest can be cool and damp, so layers help. All safety gear—harness, helmet, gloves—is provided.
