Step-by-step itinerary

ATV tour through beaches and village

  • Stop at Playa Coyotera beach
  • Visit Ecoplaya beach and kite surfing area
  • Explore local village El Jobo
  • Stop at Playa Manzanillo beach
  • Visit Rajada Beach for photos

The experience

You operate the ATV yourself (either solo or with a partner on a doubles machine), while a guide leads the route through Guanacaste's mix of village roads, primary forest and coastal terrain. The ride covers five distinct stops, each chosen for what it shows: Playa Coyotera sits near the Nicaragua border with views of Bolaños Island; Ecoplaya is known as the best beach for kite surfing; El Jobo is a working village where you can shop and see how locals live; Playa Manzanillo is home to fishermen and looks out on Parrot Island; and Rajada Beach, the final stop, gives you time to walk the sand and photograph the coastline.

The route takes 2 hours and 30 minutes total, with stops built in as you want them. You get a safety helmet, glasses and water throughout. Hotel pickup is included, so you don't need your own transport to the starting point. The guide speaks English or Spanish and explains the area (the wildlife on Bolaños Island, why each beach is different, the daily life in El Jobo) as you ride.

Children from age 4 are welcome. The operator notes the ride is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or pregnant travelers, and is suitable for all other fitness levels.

Is this one for you?Hotel pickup means you don't need a car or a ride to the starting point, so this works whether you're staying in town or renting elsewhere in Guanacaste. You operate the machine yourself, so it suits riders who want control of the pace and the stops, not a guided tour where someone else drives.
