Five beaches, a fishing village, and the wildlife of Costa Rica's northwest coast: all from the seat of your own ATV.

A 3-hour ATV riding tour in El Jobo where you operate your own machine through coastal villages, beaches and dry tropical forest. You start from your resort, ride to Coyotera Beach for views of Salinas Bay, stop in the fishing village of El Jobo itself, then continue to Bolaños Beach, Manzanillo Beach and Rajada Beach, with chances to spot white-face monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, hawks and coatis along the way. A live English-speaking guide leads the route, and the operator picks you up and drops you back at your resort. Bottled water and all safety equipment are included.

The experience

You ride your own ATV, not a passenger on someone else's tour. The guide leads the route and handles the stops, but you control the machine across the terrain. Hotel pickup starts at the resort's main lobby, and from there the day moves through five distinct beaches and one working fishing village, each one a reason to stop and look around. The total ride time between spots is about 20 minutes per leg, with time built in at each beach to take photos, watch for wildlife or simply stand and take in the view.

Coyotera Beach opens the tour with views across Salinas Bay toward Nicaragua. The guide explains the history and geography while you have 15 to 20 minutes to shoot pictures. Bolaños Beach, also called Eco Beach, sits across from Bolaños Island and is a strong spot for bird watching: mangrove swamps here hold hermit crabs, blue crabs and other creatures. El Jobo itself is a small fishing village where you can stop at a local market for a drink, snack or ice cream if you want one, and the guide talks through daily life and Costa Rican culture. Manzanillo Beach shows you the harbor where local fishermen land red snapper, tuna, barracuda, lobster and octopus, with views of Santa Rosa National Park and two islands in Santa Elena Bay. Rajada Beach, the last stop, is one of the clearest and most photographed beaches on the northwest coast: the guide saves it for the end because the light and the water are what people come for.

Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed but are common: white-face monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, falcons, hawks, coatis and herons move through the dry tropical forest between the beaches. The operator is flexible about the route. If you want to skip a beach or add a restaurant stop, you can ask. The ride ends where it started, back at your resort's main lobby.

Operated by ADVENTURE GROUP CR

Is this one for you?You operate the ATV yourself rather than riding as a passenger, so this suits riders who want to control the machine and set their own pace through the stops. The guide navigates and explains, but you decide how you ride. The 3-hour duration keeps the day short enough to fit around other plans, and the shared-group format means you'll ride alongside other visitors rather than booking a private machine.
