Taste Colombian street food while a DJ spins and the city rolls past the windows

A rumbero gastrotour through Medellín combines a traditional party vehicle—complete with live DJ, rhythmic lights and high-definition sound—with stops for Colombian street cuisine: empanadas, arepa paisa and ceviche de chicharrón. The tour rolls past Provenza street, Milla de Oro Avenue and the 4 Sur bridge, meeting at La 9 Mall Gastroturístico in El Poblado. Private transportation and a national beer are included; the experience runs three to four hours and requires a minimum age of 12.

Step-by-step itinerary

Medellín rumbero tour and street food

  • Meet at La 9 Mall Gastroturístico
  • Tour emblematic streets and taste empanadas
  • Visit Gilberto Echeverri bridge for city views
  • Stop at Antioquian restaurant for paisa arepa

The Experience

You board a traditional rumbero vehicle at La 9 Mall Gastroturístico in El Poblado, and the moment the doors close, the DJ starts. The rhythmic lights kick in, the sound system fills the space, and the tour becomes a moving party. The vehicle rolls through the emblematic streets of the area—Provenza street, lined with restaurants and nightclubs, then Milla de Oro Avenue, where the city's best hotels and shopping centers come into view. The music and the motion are the frame; the food is the reason you came.

Your first tasting arrives as you move through the neighborhood: typical Antioquian empanadas, fried and warm. The next stop is the Gilberto Echeverri bridge—the 4 Sur bridge—where the vehicle pauses so you can take in the panoramic view of the city, the architecture and the colorful lights of the bridge itself, all while the DJ keeps the rhythm going. From there, a short stop at a typical Antioquian restaurant where you sit down to a paisa arepa stuffed with a traditional paisa filling, and ceviche de chicharrón. A national beer is included throughout. The whole thing holds together without dead time: you are eating, moving, listening and watching the city change around you for three to four hours.

The guide speaks English or Spanish, and the tour is built for groups. Medical assistance is on hand. The vehicle itself—the rumbero—is the attraction as much as the route: it is how Medellín moves when it wants to celebrate, and this tour puts you inside that motion with food and music as the constant.

What’s included

  • Private transportation aboard the rumbero vehicle.
  • live DJ, rhythmic lights and high-definition sound for the entire tour.
  • three Colombian street food tastings—empanadas, paisa arepa and ceviche de chicharrón.
  • one national beer.
  • medical assistance card.

Is this one for you?The rumbero vehicle keeps moving the whole time, so this is a tour you experience from a seat with music and motion around you, not a walking tour through neighborhoods. Book this if you want to taste Colombian street food and move through the city at the same time, with the party and the food as the main event rather than the stops themselves.

Top questions

What is a rumbero vehicle and how is it different from a regular tour bus?

A rumbero is a traditional party vehicle outfitted with a live DJ booth, rhythmic lights and high-definition sound system—it is designed for celebration and movement, not just sightseeing. The entire tour unfolds aboard it, with the music and lights running the whole time as you roll through the city.

How many food tastings are included in the tour?

The tour includes three main tastings: Antioquian empanadas during the first stop through the emblematic streets, a paisa arepa stuffed with traditional filling at a restaurant near the 4 Sur bridge, and ceviche de chicharrón at the same restaurant stop. A national beer is included as well.

What is the 4 Sur bridge and why is it a stop on this tour?

The Gilberto Echeverri bridge, known as the 4 Sur bridge, is famous for its architecture and colorful lighting. The tour stops there so you can step out and take a panoramic view of the city while the DJ continues playing, letting you experience the bridge's design and the city skyline together.

Do I need to speak Spanish to enjoy this tour?

No—the guide is available in both English and Spanish, so you can choose the language that suits you when you book.

Is this tour suitable for children?

The tour requires a minimum age of 12. Children under 12 cannot participate, and the tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns.
