The experience

The tour starts at your hotel and opens in Viña del Mar at the Flower Clock, then moves through Quinta Vergara Park and the gardens that define the coastal town. From there you cross into Valparaíso proper: a port city built on steep hills where the architecture shifts from Victorian mansions to colorful murals and street art. The guide walks you through Cerro Concepción, the neighborhood that holds the city's bohemian character, pointing out viewpoints over the port and the Pacific, and the walkway Paseo Gervasoni where restaurants open onto terraces overlooking the water.

Two funiculars anchor the day. El Peral Funicular, one of the oldest, climbs the slopes with views at each stop, and your guide explains its history and why locals still rely on it. Later you ride a century-old elevator up through Valparaíso's colorful hills, descending into the urban panorama, the port movement and the ocean. The craft beer tasting happens at a local brewery where you sample a range of styles (pale ales, IPAs, stouts and porters) brewed on site, each one explained for its flavor and technique. You also have the option to take a boat ride through the port if you want to see the city from the water and hear more about its maritime past.

The tour ends at La Sebastiana, Pablo Neruda's vertical house with views toward the bay. If the museum is closed on the day of your tour, the guide takes you to the Fonk museum instead.
