Step-by-step itinerary

Bike tour of Stanley Park and Seawall

  • Start at Stanley Park entrance
  • Ride through park under cedars and firs
  • Meet the park's namesake
  • Follow seawall to Brockton Point
  • View Burrard Inlet and Lions Gate Bridge
  • Stop at totem poles for cultural heritage
  • Stand beneath Lions Gate Bridge
  • See Siwash Rock landmark
  • Relax at Third Beach and pass Lost Lagoon
  • Return to bike shop

The Experience

The ride starts at the edge of Stanley Park, then moves into the forest where towering cedars and Douglas firs shade the path. Your guide tells you about the man the park was named after, then leads you onto the Seawall itself. From there, the route follows the coastline to Brockton Point, where the North Shore Mountains rise across Burrard Inlet and the Lions Gate Bridge fills the view. You stop at the totem poles to learn about the cultural heritage of the coastal First Nations, then continue toward the bridge itself to watch tankers and cruise ships heading out toward the Strait of Georgia.

Further along, you find Siwash Rock, a striking geological and cultural landmark, then slow down at Third Beach to take in the ocean vistas. The route passes Second Beach and Lost Lagoon before returning to the shop. Throughout the ride, there are plenty of stops for photos and breaks, and your guide offers recommendations for food, entertainment and nightlife in the city. The whole loop takes just under 3 hours, and you're riding on either a regular bike or an e-bike, whichever suits you.

Weather matters here: in winter, spring and fall (October through May), layers and gloves are worth it, and rain ponchos are available if needed. Summer calls for sunscreen and sunglasses. A light jacket is a good idea year-round. The tour welcomes children from age 10 and suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Your guide speaks English or German, and public transportation is nearby if you need it.

Is this one for you?The pace is yours to set—the guide follows your rhythm, not the other way around—which means you can linger at the totem poles or the bridge views without falling behind. This works well if you want to explore Stanley Park and the Seawall without navigating the route yourself or figuring out where the cultural landmarks actually are.
