The Experience

You meet your guide at the shop, get fitted to a high-quality city bike with helmet and lock, and roll straight into the protected bike lane. The route stays on dedicated cycling infrastructure for most of the day, which means you focus on the sights instead of traffic. The guide is a local who knows the stories — the founding of Granville, the heritage of Chinatown, the neighborhoods taking shape along False Creek — and stops to tell them as you ride.

Stanley Park is the centerpiece: a 1000-acre peninsula ringed by the famous Seawall bike path, with forest trails cutting through old-growth cedar and hemlock. You'll see totem poles and learn about Coastal First Nations heritage, and if the timing is right, spot local wildlife in the trees. From there the route swings through English Bay's beaches and coastal views, then down to Granville Island's Public Market, where you take a break to find your own lunch. The afternoon carries you along the False Creek Seawall, past the modern marinas and neighborhoods of the Olympic Village, and into Gastown — the historic heart where the city began, with the stories of Gassy Jack and the buildings that survived the Great Fire.

The whole loop takes 5 hours. Rain ponchos are on hand if the weather turns, and the guide will adjust the pace if anyone needs it. You can store luggage at the shop for the duration, so you're not carrying a pack the whole time. Children from age 10 are welcome, and the tour is designed for riders of all fitness levels.

Top questions

How much of the ride is on busy streets versus protected bike lanes?

Most of the route runs on dedicated cycling lanes, so you spend the day on separated paths rather than sharing the road with traffic. The Seawall sections in Stanley Park and along False Creek are especially protected.

What's the lunch situation — is food included or do I need to find it myself?

You take a break at Granville Island's Public Market and choose your own lunch from the vendors there. Snacks are provided during the tour, but the market meal is on you.

Can I bring my kids on this tour?

Children are welcome from age 10 and up. The tour is easygoing and designed for riders of all fitness levels, so kids who are comfortable on a bike can join.

What happens if it rains on the day of my tour?

The tour runs rain or shine. Rain ponchos are available to use, and the guide will have you covered. If you'd rather not ride in the rain, you can cancel up to 24 hours before your departure time.

Is an electric bike an option on this tour?

E-bikes are available in-store for an extra $35 plus tax, subject to availability, and riders must be 16 or older to use one.

What should I wear and bring?

In winter, spring and fall (October through May), wear layers and gloves — weather is unpredictable. In summer, shorts, a T-shirt, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen and sunglasses work well. A light jacket is worth bringing year-round in case of unexpected weather. The bike shop has rain ponchos if you need one.
