The experience

The Rouge River's rapids come in a cascade of ledges, drops and waves that hit fast enough to keep both beginners and experienced paddlers engaged. New World Rafting has been running trips here for over 45 years, and the guides stay alert throughout. You focus on paddling and reading the water. The river sits just an hour from Montreal and Ottawa, so the commute is short and the payoff is immediate.

A half-day run takes 4 hours total and includes your helmet, paddle and life jacket. A full-day option adds lunch and dinner. After you come off the water, the facilities keep the energy going: a swimming pool, hot tub, volleyball court and Tiki Bar are all there to use. If you're staying overnight, you can pitch a tent at the campsite or book a cabin tent and watch the stars from the grounds.

The guides are bilingual (English and French) and lead trips for families, corporate groups, school outings and weekend adventurers. No paddling experience is necessary, and the operation welcomes children from age 12 onward. Vegetarian meal options are available if you let them know at booking.

Is this one for you?The half-day option fits a morning or afternoon slot in a Montreal visit without eating the whole day. The full-day trip suits a dedicated adventure day with meals and time to relax in the facilities afterward. Either way, you need your own transport to the departure point outside the immediate Montreal area. Check the address on your voucher ahead of time.
