The experience
The tour opens with a sightseeing flight: 30 minutes above the summer landscape from an angle most visitors never see. Back in Whitehorse, you walk the city's historic sites, including the paddlewheeler SS Klondike, then drive to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to watch elk, moose, caribou, mountain goats and porcupines in their natural habitat. Four nights in a Whitehorse hotel anchor the trip, so you return to the same base each evening.
Day three takes you to Kluane National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. You hike the Rock Glacier trail for views across the lakes and mountains, explore Kathleen Lake's scenic shoreline, and visit the Da Kų Cultural Centre in Haines Junction to learn about the park's history and its massive non-polar ice field. The fourth day is spent on the water: after a safety briefing and introduction to paddling technique, you canoe down the Yukon River from Whitehorse to the Takhini River confluence. A beginner-friendly paddle through quiet northern scenery. The route is designed for first-time paddlers, and canoe gear rental is included.
Airport transfers bookend the tour, and expert guides lead the entire trip in English, Spanish or Japanese. Snacks and water come with both the Kluane hike and the canoe day. Meals beyond what's provided, personal extras and gratuity are separate costs.

Is this one for you?The fixed five-day schedule fits travelers who want a mix of activities (flight, hiking, paddling and wildlife) without building the itinerary themselves. Groups stay under six people, which keeps the pace manageable and the guide's attention distributed. The moderate fitness level required and the guide's ability to adjust for weather mean the tour adapts to real conditions instead of forcing a rigid plan.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and Japanese.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 6 days before the start.
What's the canoeing like on the Yukon River?
The canoe trip runs from Whitehorse to the Takhini River confluence and is designed for beginners with no prior paddling experience. You get a detailed safety briefing and instruction in paddling technique before launching, and the route follows peaceful water through classic northern scenery. Canoe gear rental, snacks and water are all included.
How much hiking is involved in Kluane National Park?
Kluane National Park includes a short hike at the Rock Glacier, which offers views across the lakes and mountains of the park. The hike is part of a full day that also covers Kathleen Lake and a visit to the Da Kų Cultural Centre in Haines Junction, so it's not a backpacking expedition. It's a moderate walk built into a broader exploration of the park.
What wildlife will I actually see at the preserve?
The Yukon Wildlife Preserve visit lets you see elk, moose, caribou, mountain goats and porcupines in their natural surroundings. It's a dedicated half-day wildlife viewing tour as part of the second day's itinerary.
Do I need to book a single or double room before I book the tour?
You choose your room type (single or double occupancy) at checkout. Either way, you get four nights in a Whitehorse hotel included in the tour price.
What happens if weather changes the plan?
The guide has discretion to adjust activities based on conditions, so the itinerary may shift from what's planned. This flexibility is built into the tour because of the far-north environment and the range of outdoor activities involved.
Is the sightseeing flight included, or is it optional?
The 30-minute sightseeing flight over the Whitehorse area is included in the tour price on day two, not optional.
