The experience
This is a private tour, which means you and your group have one guide for the entire day instead of joining a larger group. Your guide picks you up at your hotel lobby and takes you straight to the ticket booth. The entrance pass is not included in the tour price and costs USD 37 per person (children under 12 don't need one). Once inside the Angkor Archaeological Park, you move at your own pace through the temples with someone who knows the history and can answer questions as you go.
The route covers the "Big Three" in a single day: Angkor Thom's South Gate with its giant stone faces, Bayon temple at the heart of the ancient city with more than 200 serene carved faces adorning its towers, Baphuon's pyramid-style structure, the Terrace of the Elephants (a 350-meter ceremonial platform with detailed carvings), and the Terrace of the Leper King. Then Ta Prohm, the 12th-century temple famous from Tomb Raider, where massive trees have grown through the stone structures for centuries. You break for lunch at a restaurant your guide recommends. That's on you. The day finishes at Angkor Wat itself, the largest religious monument in the world, before heading to Phnom Bakheng hilltop temple for sunset (or sunrise, depending on which option you chose).
Transport depends on group size: one or two people travel by tuk-tuk, three or more by air-conditioned van. The tour runs 8 to 10 hours total. Your guide speaks English, and you can also book in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, or Portuguese. Cold water is provided throughout the day. Dress code matters: temples require pants or skirts covering the knees and shirts covering the shoulders. Angkor Wat is stricter about this than the others.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.
What's the difference between the sunrise and sunset options?
Sunrise starts your day at Angkor Wat before moving through the other temples, while sunset saves Angkor Wat and Phnom Bakheng for the end of the day. Both routes cover the same temples. The order changes based on which light you want to see them in.
Do I need to buy the entrance ticket before the tour starts?
Your guide takes you to the ticket booth at the start of the day, so you can buy your pass then. You can also purchase it online in advance if you prefer. Either way, it costs USD 37 per person and is separate from the tour price.
What is Bayon temple actually like when you get there?
Bayon sits at the center of Angkor Thom and is famous for its towers carved with more than 200 serene, smiling stone faces. The temple also has intricate bas-reliefs and a mystical atmosphere that makes it one of Cambodia's most photographed sites.
Is lunch included, and what kind of food will we eat?
Lunch is not included in the tour price. Your guide recommends a nearby restaurant where you can order Cambodian food and eat on your own.
How physically demanding is a full day of temple touring?
The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels. You'll be walking between temples and climbing some stairs, but you move at your own pace with your guide. The itinerary is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
Can children join this tour?
Children under 12 years old can join for free and don't need to buy an entrance ticket. Children aged 12 and up pay the standard entrance fee like adults.
