The Pinacoteca sits in a 1900 structure that's itself a museum piece, with over ten thousand Brazilian works from the 19th and 20th centuries. The Sacred Art Museum lives in a monastery from 1774 and has pieces by Aleijadinho, one of Brazil's most important sculptors. Or skip the art entirely and go to the Soccer Museum if you want to understand how football shaped the country. It's interactive, with sound and video, and tells the story from the beginning to now. The guide knows the difference between each place and what matters in it.
