The experience
Two hours on the water starts with equipment setup and paddling technique training at the base before you head out. The guide walks you through how to handle a single or double kayak with a rudder, then you agree on the day's route together: circular if you want to return to the same spot, or a crossing that ends at another point and brings you back by car. Either way, the itinerary shifts based on wind and your group's comfort level, so no two paddles are quite the same.
The water route itself passes through mangroves, Atlantic Forest, Restinga Forest, beaches and streams that border the Lagoa da Conceição and the Rio Vermelho Basin. Along the way you'll see traditional communities and spots that are difficult or impossible to reach on foot. The guide stops at strategic points to let you step out, explore and absorb the local culture and natural features. You're doing the paddling, not watching someone else do it. That's what makes the angle different from the shore.
The group stays small enough that the guide can adapt the pace and stops to what you need. Service animals are welcome, and children from age 3 can paddle (infants sit with an adult). The guide handles safety, carries a communication kit and first aid, and manages the return transport so you're not figuring out logistics after you're tired.
